General Homework Guidelines

  • Children should be encouraged to develop a good routine to complete homework. In as far as possible, homework should be carried out at the same time every day. It would also be preferable that homework would be done in a quiet place without distractions
  • All homework tasks should be given equal emphasis. Learning tasks should not be perceived to be less important than written tasks.
  • Reading should be completed aloud every day, and should always be heard by an adult.
  •  Finally, while it is so beneficial and important that parents support the children in doing their homework, it is equally important to ensure that the homework is always the work of the child. This allows the teacher to accurately assess each child’s progress. If homework is deemed to be substandard, the teacher may request that the work is redone.
