Musical Theatre Classes
Back in September, the girls from 1st to 3rd class were given the opportunity to take part in a musical theatre class for ten weeks after school. The class consisted of dancing, singing and drama. The girls were so enthusiastic and talented that we decided to put on our own mini production of ‘Matilda’. The children performed a selection of songs including ‘In my own little Corner’, ‘When I grow up’ and ‘Naughty’. They performed these songs along with a wonderful play for the parents at both our open night in November and also for their own audience of parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles and child minders. The girls had great fun and showed true star potential.
Due to the success of the class and the performance, we decided to hold another class for the senior girls after Christmas. We are entering into our final weeks of this class. The girls are working very hard, practising all of their dance moves and learning all of their lines. They will be performing their short version of ‘Seussical the Musical’ on Wednesday 5th April in the halla. All of their hard work is paying off as the performance is really coming together. It just goes to show what can be achieved in a short space of time when you put your mind to it. I am very proud of each and every girl.
